SPSSI 2024 Conference Co-chair

Tessa L. Dover, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of applied social psychology at Portland State University. Before joining the faculty at Portland State, she earned her B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in 2011 and her Ph.D. from UC Santa Barbara in 2017. Her research focuses on the causes and consequences of stigma, discrimination, and other forms of group-based inequity in various social contexts (e.g., organizations, higher education, social movements). Specific lines of research include the impacts of striving on health & identity, the efficacy & unintended consequences of organizational DEI initiatives, and the role of threat underlying stigma processes. She focuses on the use of multiple methods, the consideration of individuals with both advantaged and disadvantaged social identities, and the acknowledgement of the immense variability between individuals that hold the same social identities. She is excited to co-chair the 2025 SPSSI conference!
